Carmen Franco, Psy.D.

Advanced Postdoctoral Fellow

She/Her

Carmen Franco, Psy.D. is a bilingual (English/Spanish) advanced postdoctoral fellow providing secure telehealth therapy across Illinois. She helps adolescents, college students, and adults navigate anxiety, ADHD, depression, life transitions, LGBTQIA+ identity questions, and substance-use concerns. Carmen pairs multicultural, trauma-informed care with evidence-based tools—from CBT and ACT to mindfulness and solution-focused techniques—so each session feels both practical and culturally attuned. Philosophy

Sometimes we encounter challenges that exceed our expectations and can lead us to experience distress. I consider myself a generalist and enjoy working with a variety of different concerns. That said, I’m particularly passionate about individuals with ADHD, anxiety, life transitions, career discernment, chronic pain/illness, or sleep issues. I’m also particularly drawn to working with mothers and am well versed in LGBTQIA+ issues. I want to walk with you through these challenges and support you in your healing process. I believe empathy, compassion, and a strong therapeutic relationship are key to comfortably and safely exploring your inner world. My priority is to provide a warm and confidential environment.

I am a Hispanic, bilingual therapist who serves both English and Spanish-speaking clientele. I enjoy working with people who are open and motivated to actively participate in therapy. I work with adolescents, young adults, and adults from diverse backgrounds.

Experience

I have experience working with situational problems, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, interpersonal/relational issues, academic problems, addiction problems, and other mental health concerns. I utilize a multicultural and trauma-informed approach to therapy. I tailor the modalities, implementing an integrative, evidence-based style to meet client needs. Some of the methods and models are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational emotive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, solution focus therapy, existential, humanistic, and integrative approaches
