PHILOSOPHY

If you are someone who seeks to feel at home in your skin, to transform your relationship with your inner world and other people, to understand the core of what is hurting you and to shift lifelong patterns that are no longer serving you, somatic therapy may be a good fit for you. I love working with folks who are interested in not only coping, but in the deep root work - getting out of your mind and into your body to reconnect with the innate healing capacity we all carry within us. Our body holds the story of everything that has ever happened to us, and together you and I can work to develop internal safety and connection so that you can own your story and write a new one for your future.

Somatic, experiential, mindfulness-based work can be great fit for folks with a history of trauma, those who struggle to set boundaries, who identify as “people pleasers”, who struggle with self-esteem, chronic shame, inner connection, emotional regulation, or a difficult relationship with food; it can also be a positive fit for neurodiverse individuals, people exploring their identity, and those looking to improve their experiences of sexual intimacy.

Your body and your nervous system have always been fighting for you, trying to protect you. My goal as your therapist is to help you feel safe enough to reconnect with yourself and the people around you using new strategies that come from love and ease, rather than from fear and constriction.

APPROACH

My approach to therapy is centered on the idea that you are the expert in the room on your experience, and together we can combine our insight and experience to create transformation and connection. I integrate somatic therapy, sensorimotor therapy, coherence therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), polyvagal theory, and interpersonal neurobiology to support you in feeling safe and connected to yourself, others, and the world around you. I am oriented towards a holistic, neurodiversity-affirming, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, sex-positive, fat-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming lens. Together we can work to help you live in the present, achieve your goals, live by your values, and transform your relationship with your inner world.

EXPERIENCE

I completed Psy.D. at Midwestern University – Glendale and my doctoral internship at the Montana VA Medical Center. My doctoral and post-doctoral training have included working with adults in community mental health, private practice, residential hospitalization, and outpatient settings. I’ve been lucky to have worked with folks with a history of trauma, ADHD, autism, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, gender dysphoria, dissociative disorders, sexual concerns, and substance use disorders. I’ve also completed additional training in breathwork, meditation, ecotherapy, nonviolent communication, and psychedelic harm reduction and integration.
